if you want a change with your handbag if its a bit plain ...dont buy a new one place a beaded necklace across the bag and just tack a few stiches in each end ..you can swap and change the beads and have a bag to match different outfits
to make a unique birthday card for a special birthday draw out the age on a nice piece of card and stick coins on over the number to make it an extra special card ..they cam use the coins after the card is finished with
a usual tip to dry out trainers is to stuff with newpaper ..if you want to dry them out without the mess use carrier bags instead ..it has the same affect but less mess
to keep teddies away but still on view ....attach some rope to the bedroom ceiling and attach the teddies with pegs
to save the tops of your milk bottles from birds ...save lids off fabric conditioner bottles and pop them over
for lovely looking nails brush twice a day with lemon juice
soothe coughs with hot milk mixed with a teaspoon of black treacle and a little nutmeg
to personalise wrapping paper get your kids to paint pictures and use them as wrapping paper ...relatives will love the personal touch
wrap fairy lights round a thick piece of card after xmas to save tangles and broken bulbs when you get them back out next year
a safe way to store delicate baubles is to place them in old eggboxes

cut flowers will last longer if you dissolve a spoonful of sugar and anaspirin into the water ..sugar acts as plant food and the asprin allows the flowers to absorb more water
make the black bumpers on your car look like new by applying smooth peanut butter ....leave for 5 minutes then rub off avoiding the paintwork
to keep your cat litter tray smelling fresh ...line the bottom with scented pedal bin liners
add a drop of washing up liquid to childrens paint before they star using it ...it makes washing mucky hands a lot easier afterwards
disguise marks or small tears on clothes by covering them with cotton transfers making your own unique design |

to avoid pin marks on your walls from xmas cards ..use folded masking tape instead for some reason it doesnt take the wallpaper off
use prit stick when wrapping xmas presents ..it looks much tidier than sellotape
stick paper doilies on the window and spray with fake snow remove the doilies and you will have perfect snowflakes
if you want a way to keep the kids occupied in the summer holidays ..let them paint on paving slabs in your garden with poster paints they will play for ages and a quick hose down after clears the lot away no problem
if you run out of hooks for your xmas tree decorations ...use a paper clip instead ..open the paperclip slip the loop through the decoration and the other onto the branch
for a nice thick comfy quilt in the cold weather ...buy two summer ones and sew press studs onto them and put them together ...when it starts to get warmer just take one off and you got a nice cool one again for the summer
if you like your garden to look bright and colourful but find large decorative plant pots expensive ...use coloured waste paper bins instead ....just put a few holes in the bottom of them
for a lovely festive look dry some slices of orange and lemon in the oven ....and spray them with gold and silver paint and hang from your tree
when you put your artificial tree away for next year pop in the box with it an opened pine gel air freshener and when you take it out next year it will smell like the real thing
use wd40 to take fake snow off the windows it comes off easily and doesnt leave a mess
keep your dustpan and brush clean by squirting them with furniture polish ...the dirt should rub off easily
reuse vacuum cleaner bags ...unfold the end,empty,refold and seal with parcel tape
use air freshener to clean mirrors ..it does a good job and leaves a lovely smell

if you have a decorative candle that you dont want to burn hollow out a small hole in the top big enough for a tealight and pop that in ..that way you can light your candle time and time again without it burning down
when you use a hair dye at home keep the lid off the box then next time you know straight away which colour you used
if you can never remember your mobile number have it put on a dog tag and keep it on your key ring
to save rummaging in your bag for your purse attach it to a key ring and fasten to the inner zip of your handbag
for an original idea when buying wine as a presenr remove the labels and create your own on a p.c if you can get to one
if your child wont eat vegetables cook some up and put in the blender then freeze the puree in ice cube trays ..then when tea time comes heat up a few cubes and serve in a little dish ..kids love dipping
buy a circular indoor drier the small ones used for the likes of underwear and hang in your hallway ..then you can attach hats,scarves,gloves etc to it then theyre always to hand on a cold morning
when doing diy repairs round the house keep screws together by sticking them onto sellotape
hang special occasion shirts inside out then when you get round to wearing them any dust that gathers on the shoulders will be on the insides
if the inner soles of your sandals are worn simply stick the right size foam insoles on them with superglue they will be soft and comfortable foranother year
if youre having trouble with a sticky zip rub a bar of soap over the teeth it should easily slide up and down after that
wrap hair bobbles round your hair brush you will always have one to hand when you do your hair
if youre sick of getting c.d`s that youre given free and dont know what to do with them ...stick a small picture in the centre and create a family tree of c.d`s
whenever you buy electrical goods ...staple the reciept to the instructions .....if anything goes wrong you will know instantly where it is

if you buy a new washing line and its too big just run it back along with a small space inbetween ..double the drying space
if you get biro ink or cartridge ink on your hands ..wash with a bit of soap powder ..the ink vanishes
wrap a layer or two of masking tape around childrens crayons ..stops them snapping in half
if you cant sleep ..try to remember the names of fellow pupils in your school class ..you will nod off in no time
to ease a headache cut a lime in half and rub it on your forehead ..the throbbing will soon stop
if you throw out your jeans ...cut off the pockets and sew them together ..a handy pocket for keeping things that you dont want to lose in the bottom of your bag
a facial wipe rubbed on white trainers will bring them up a treat
for a bit of fun and to be a bit different ...when having a dinner party ..for place mats ..cut out a picture of each guest and place in a picture holder where they will sit

make nasty whiffs disappear from your loo by lighting a match ..less overpowering than air freshener sprays
put bath and sink plugs in at night to keep out cold draughts
when cutting flimsy material warm the scissors first ..they will cut more effectively |

when you buy pyjamas or underwear and they come in the plastic packets with the hanger on ....you can reuse the bag as a peg bag ..its waterproof and see through so you can check for creepy crawlies before getting your pegs out
spray a little furniture polish onto a scratched cd/dvd...rub with a soft cloth and it wont stick when played
if you dont recyle newspapers and magazines ...shred them ..use can use the shredding as packaging when sending parcels or as bedding for pets in cages
if you dont have a shredder to get rid of personal bills etc ...rip into small pieces and soak into warm soapy water scrunch into balls and leave to dry
when your child has done with there lunch box ..use it for growing seeds ..its ideal to stop them damaged by frost overnight just close the lid and reopen in the morning
if you dont want to take up space in your garden with a washing line or rotary drier .....then hang hooks at intervals along your fence and hang your clothes on hangers on the hooks
if you can never find the earrings you want cos theyre all cluttered up in your jewellery box ...attach them to an old lamp ..you can find the ones you want easily
if you have problems with moles in your garden ...drop a few mothballs into the holes ..the moles hate the smell
if your buggy is mucky and you dont want the wheels muddying up your boot ...keep nappy bags or carrier bags in the boot and put one on each wheel before you put it in the car ..no more muddy boot
if your child doesnt like having calamine lotion or anything rubbed into there skin then get a water spray bottle ..unscrew it and cut the stem down then put it on the calamine bottle and spray
if you have delicate bras that require handwashing ....wear them in the shower instead and just wash gently with soap that way they dont lose there shape
if arthritis in you hands makes it difficult to hold a toothbrush to clean your dentures use a nailbrush instead its much easier to grip
when cleaning out your rabbits cage pour some water on the sawdust ...it makes the sawdust stick together and stops it blowing all over the place

if you take little ones swimming put on a towelling robe when you come out the pool then by the time you have dried and dressed the kids youre more or less dry yourself
if you have the little yogurt drinks daily save the bottles to make a mini bowling game for the kids
when using string put it into a tall baby wipes tub and thread through the hole in the top no more tangles
when you have finished with your childs baby bath ...put it in the garden with sand in ..the kids will play for ages
if you have an old t-shirt that you dont wear because of size or a stain or whatever reason ...sew up the bottom and the sleeves and place on a hanger ..you can now use it to store carrier bags |

use free c.ds from papers and magazines to make a bright border for your bedroom
to remove posters from kids bedroom walls use nail clippers instead of breaking your nails
to display your pictures without buying expensive frames ..put your pictures inside cardboard ones make holes with a hole punch in the corners and thread ribbon through
wrap jigsaws in cling film before storing away to stop pieces falling out
if you lose a screw from your glasses an earring stud will make a good temporary replacement
when visiting grandchildren take a pk of cake mix instead of sweets ..they can have all the fun of making them and then eating them

if your child has lots of teddies and your worried about dust ...throw them into a bin bag and shake in some bicarbonate of soda and give them a brush ...dust free
if your nails are dirty after gardening but you cant find a nailbrush ..use an old toothbrush the smaller bristles will get the dirt out easier
to make candles last longer put them in the fridge ....coldcandles burn more slowly so they last twice as long
if your tired of boring walls but find large tins of paint expensive ...buy tester pots and mask off sections on your wall ..paint differnet coloured stripes for a new look
for an alternative lamp ...get a large glass vase and drop a large string of plastic fairy lights into it
if youcan never find a pencil when writing in your diary drill a hole in the end of your pencil and attach it to the diarys page marker ribbon |
